Douglas Lake is one of the TVA reservoirs built during World War II and provided much needed hydropower during the
war. Douglas continues to be an integral part of the water control system of the Tennessee Valley. Spring rainwater is
stored for release in summer and fall in order to maintain an
adequate navigational depth in the Tennessee River while also generating electricity.
